Doha, Qatar, 17 February 2010: Thirty-five diplomats representing 34 embassies this week attended an Official Diplomat Briefing event at the Diplomatic Club given by representatives from the 2nd Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2010) and the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces. The purpose of the briefing was to update Diplomats on the planning of DIMDEX to ensure the smooth and productive visit of their VIP Delegations and visiting warships
DIMDEX 2010, the anchor of the Middle East and North African maritime defence industry, expects to welcome 145 exhibitors, invited VIP delegations, 7,000 trade visitors and 200 naval & defence journalists at the Doha Exhibition Center from 29th to 31st March 2010.
Presenting the Diplomat Briefing was a four-member DIMDEX 2010 panel led by DIMDEX 2010 Deputy Chairman Staff Brigadier (SEA) Khalid Yehya Al-Khuzaei who was accompanied by Staff Colonel (SEA) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, Lt. Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Haroon, and Exhibition Director Mr. Mohamed Nabhani.
Following a welcome greeting by Staff Brigadier Al-Khuzaei, diplomats listened intently to a DIMDEX 2010 exhibition and programme presentation from Mohamed Nabhani, followed by details of the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (Tuesday 30th March) and DIMDEX events delivered by Marketing Manager Julia Mead.
DIMDEX 2010 VIP Delegations and Protocol Director, Staff Colonel Al-Ansari then educated the diplomats about plans for VIP Delegations, Warships Display and Warship Crew Sports Tournament, before a relevant question & answer session brought the briefing to an end, followed by lunch in the Diplomatic Club’s Roshana Suite.
"Our desire is to ensure that all visiting VIP delegations and warships are fully informed of the arrangements for DIMDEX 2010 to ensure a hugely successful second edition of the event in Qatar." Staff Brigadier Al-Khuzaei said.
"We are committed to a professional and well-organised event," Al-Khuzaei continued. "We believe today’s briefing and the feedback we received will play a major role in us achieving those ends."
